Adobe has just announced that it will be changing its name Flash Professional to Animate CC. The said decision was made in order to remind the customers that the multimedia platform is also compatible with other up to date setups.
Besides the plan to rename the computer software company's name, Adobe will also have its Creative Cloud update this coming January. Instead of the conventional Flash Professional CC, it will be rebranded into Adobe Animate CC. This is to convince the users that their platform is capable of supporting the modern applications and software.
Even if the name will be changed officially, the Adobe Animate CC will still support the traditional programs. It will still upkeep Flash or SWF files, and can also support the Adobe's standalone AIR runtime. The software will be compatible with HTML5 Canvas and WebGL.
Some users were confused to the Flash name which led them to assume that the platform is only for Flash technology. However, Adobe made it clear that one third of the Flash Professional is already HTML5-based. The rebranding of the name makes sense as it will pacify the minds of the users.
In 2010, it can be remembered that the Apple CEO Steve Jobs criticized Adobe Flash for its misleading name. According to the founder of the tech giant, Flash Professionals should be renamed to a more accurate name that represents their accurate position as an animation tool.
In a blog post, Adobe stated the impact of the Flash on the web network. The company also encourages the content creators to create innovative tools for the web.
"Looking ahead, we encourage content creators to build with new web standards and will continue to focus on providing the best tools and services for designers and developers to create amazing content for the web," the American multinational company wrote.
