Steven Spielberg Confirms What We Already Know About 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

There is no doubt that Steven Spielberg is one of the most acclaimed directors in the history of cinema. However, the man responsible for blockbusters like 'E.T.' and 'Jaws' also admits that he has great admiration for his friend and fellow filmmaker George Lucas and his 'Star Wars' franchise.

"I'm a true fan of 'Star Wars,' but I have always felt it was not in my stars to ever direct one," Spielberg admitted to RTL, adding that he was destined to do one exciting thing for the franchise.

"It was in my stars to admire and attend and see each one numerous times," he revealed.

In addition to that, Steven Spielberg shared his opinion about 'Episode VII.'

"I think [this new 'Star Wars'] could be the biggest movie ever," he said.

Although Steven Spielberg's comment is no shocker for the millions of 'Star Wars' fans who have been waiting patiently for 'Episode VII,' there are some who believe he is somehow biased because of his friendship with George Lucas and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy as well as 'Episode VII' director J.J. Abrams.

At this point, it is important to point out that Steven Spielberg has already seen 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' several times due to his connections. Although there is no doubt that 'Episode VII' will be the huge winner during the holiday box office, there are two other 'Star Wars' films that will be released after 'The Force Awakens.' These sequels will be directed by Rian Johnson and Colin Trevorrow, respectively, and both filmmakers have proven their talent in their works as well.

Despite what haters might say about the Steven Spielberg Star Wars statement, it is still clearly a film viewer's opinion about the most highly-anticipated movie of the year and it might prove to be true on December 18.
