'Suicide Squad' Joker Jared Leto Promises to Make Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson Proud

Heat around Jared Leto's version of The Joker in 'Suicide Squad' has gone up 10,000 degrees Celsius after the Oscar winner posted a Gaunted Photography meme of previous Joker heavyweights Jack Nicholson (Tim Burton's 'Batman') and Heath Ledger (Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight') on Twitter and Instagram. The meme caption does give away that Jared has much to live up to in terms of standards that his predecessors set: "Don't worry Leto will makes us proud." Heath Ledger's Oscar came from his iconic portrayal of this super villain.

The buzz is that the 'Flight Club' actor is justified in his post because he did not leave any stone unturned with his version of The Joker. His method acting was so consistent on and off the 'Suicide Squad' set that he left a few other personalities - in particular Will Smith who does Deadshot, stumped. Smith actually says that he never really 'met' Leto at any time during filming. If Leto's own description of his own efforts is anything to go by, then fans worldwide are in for a ride because Leto says giving life to The Joker is like "giving birth out of my prick hole."

The question really is not did he do enough but more of - did he do too much? Admittedly Leto's Joker having tattoos and sparkling jewels on his teeth did not really thrill too many fans, for one. Yet the summer Comic-Con clip of Leto's chortling character promising pain to one of the characters strapped to The Joker's torture table is enough to set eager fans on tenterhooks.

Leto tells Empire, "...I took a pretty deep dive...But this was a unique opportunity and I couldn't imagine doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological games."

The eccentricities of this mental super villain really does provide an immense playground for an actor. A really good one, would know just what to do with that.
