MacBook 2016: New Line of Laptops in the Works? [Release Date, Specs & Rumors]

MacBook 2016 rumors have been popping up since more than 250 days has passed since the MacBook Air has been upgraded. If MacBook Air rumors hold true, then it would take another 180 days before a new release of Apple's thin laptop line.

According to Economic Daily News based in Taiwan, MacBook Air 2016 rumors include a revamped and thinner 13- and 15-inch versions of the laptop, as well as redesigned internals. The website says that the announcement will be made during at the WWDC 16, Apple's developer conference which is expected to take place in June.

Since no reports of an 11-inch MacBook Air was made, Apple could reportedly start making the 12-inch MacBook as its starting point for the new MacBooks.

Mac Rumors mentions that the slimmer MacBook Air design will have "fully redesigned" internal components and the top-selling laptop company is reportedly in the talks with suppliers in the development of the new components.

Earlier this year, the Cupertino-based company expanded its notebook lineup and added a new 12-inch ultrathin MacBook with Retina display that uses ultra-low voltage Intel chips for its fanless design.

According to Laptop Mag, it the new MacBooks takes a cue from the new lineup, a Force Touch trackpad, 2K or higher resolution display is expected. Also hoped for by fans is the addition of more than one USB Type-C port.

Meanwhile, as much as these MacBook Air 2016 rumors sounds exciting, some say that the MacBook Air will be discontinued in the future to simplify its laptops, which include the MacBook, MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro.

The 15-inch MacBook Air could be a future addition to Apple's lineup, and the 12-inch MacBook could take the place of the company's ultraportable line of laptops.

While Taiwan's Economic Daily News said that the rumored features above could likely be announced at the WWDC 2016 in June, Mac Rumors noted that the website has had a hit-or-miss track record when it comes to Apple rumors, so it pays to take a grain of salt with the recent claims, unless of course another report comes up or the company itself confirm the rumors.
