Multi-awarded film director Steven Spielberg on Monday said that he would very much love to direct a fifth installment of the highly patronized Indiana Jones franchise before Harrison Ford turns 80 years old.
In an interview over French radio RTL, the "Schinder's List' director said that he is excited to make another sequel to the fictional archeological adventures of Indiana Jones. The first installment was 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' which was released back in 1981.
In the interview Spielberg said: "I am hoping one day to make it to an Indiana Jones V. I would hope to make it before Harrison Ford is 80 and I get much older.'' Spielberg is 68 himself.
It was just in March that the 73 year old Harrison Ford survived when his vintage World War II trainer plane had a crash landing in a golf course in Santa Monica.
Ford suffered injuries but after treatment and physical therapy, 'Star War's' Han Solo is reportedly to have fully recovered and is back in good shape.
The statement of Spielberg in the interview seemed to confirm that Harrison Ford could yet be asked to get on board, have his bullwhip in hand and play Indiana Jones one last time for Indiana Jones 5. There have also been a lot of buzz that 'Transformer's' Shia LaBeouf who took the role of Indiana Jones's sidekick Mutt Williams in the 2008 ''India Jones: Kingdom of the Crustal Skull', may have the iconic bullwhip bequeathed to him from Indiana Jones himself.
Spielberg who is very much considered a mover and shaker of the movie industry humbly admits that he still feels he has a lot to learn. Despite the numerous awards and accolades received from his previous masterpieces such as 'Jaws', 'E.T.' and 'Schindler's List' , the Academy award winning director is self-effacing as ever.
"After 40 years I don't feel as experienced as people might assume," he told RTL. "I still feel I am learning and I am really excited by new projects."
When asked about him directing a franchise of his long time friend George Lucas, the director has this to say:
"I am a huge fan of 'Star Wars'.... but I think it was never in my stars for me to direct one," he said.
He foresees also that the latest installment of the ''Star Wars: The Force Awakens'' may really be the highest grossing film when it opens in theaters in December.
