Erykah Badu made fun of Iggy Azalea's rapping, claiming that what the Fancy singer's making is "not a rap."
On Sunday night, Erykah Badu seriously jabbed Iggy Azalea with her jests during her opening monologue at the 2015 Soul Train Awards. The 44 year old music artist cracked a joke, suggesting that the Black Widow songstress doesn't know how to rap.
The awards night was all about soul and R&B, so to lighten up the night, Badu first made some funny remarks about herself. "As you know, I am the queen of neo soul and people say I have this common effect on rappers: that I make them change gods and wear crochet hats," the On & On singer joked in front of the crowd.
"So they have banned me from all of the hip-hop awards with a sign saying 'Erykah Badu, leave our rappers alone," she quipped.
After making fun of her own reputation, Badu pretended receiving a phone call from Azalea. "Who is this? Iggy Azalea?" The singer then continued saying, "Yeah, hey! No, no, no, no, no, no, no! You can come," she said. "'Cause what you're doing is definitely not rap."
Many audience were visibly shocked while others giggled at Badu's joke. Later that evening many fans took to social media and expressed their anger over the mockery. Iggy however, remained silent and hasn't released any comments about the controversy.
Badu on the other fired back to her haters, by writing on Twitter, "Kill joy."
This year seems to be a tough year for Iggy Azalea. Just recently news also broke out that she's calling off her wedding with Nick Young. Rumors been swirling around that the couple are heading to split after the singer found out that her fiancé cheated on her.
