He's a big man with a big heart. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, who's best known for his tough roles in movies and being looked up to as one of the legends in the wrestling industry, has donated $1,500 to save one abused and abandoned 4-month old puppy that was named after him, ABC News reported.
Reports say that Dwayne learned about the puppy when the 'Gossip Girl' actress Michelle Trachtenberg shared the heartbreaking news on Twitter and tweeted directly to Dwayne about the dog's bad condition, adding that the animal was in torture with a wire wrapped in his mouth before being left out.
Though the wire was completely removed, the dog's wound was stitched and it was found out that he has been suffering from a severe heart murmur that badly needs a surgery for treatment.
"This puppy named after @TheRock was tortured, abandoned! ... He needs our help for life saving surgery." the actress wrote.
Dwayne was quick to respond on the tweet as he wrote "This is rough to read about. Poor lil' pup abandoned w/ a wire wrapped around his mouth. I'll help. Stay strong pup."
According to the SPOT shelter situated in Los Angeles, they named the puppy after Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson because he needs to be a "great fighter" like him and win the battle.
Not too long after the action star tweeted about his intentions to help the poor puppy, he directly went to the GoFundMe page and donated $1,500.
The shelter aiming for a $5,000 goal updated their web site on Wednesday, November 25, to thank Dwayne for his kindness.
The post reads, "Knowing that 'The Rock' has got Dwayne the puppy's back, we are confident he will be a fighter and make it through this. Thank you all for your generous donations, thanks to you we have met our goal."
This big man really has a soft heart for animals, especially for puppies. Back in September, Dwayne also lost his own puppy, a French bulldog named Brutus, after it accidentally swallowed poisonous mushrooms.
"We'll always love you Brutus and you will always be my lil' man and rough housing Brute." Dwayne said in his touching Instagram post.
