Marvel fans are understandably thankful this week as the first 'Captain America: Civil War' trailer was released on Tuesday, followed by the updated film synopsis!
After the release of the first trailer for 'Civil War' on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' Disney and Marvel Studios unleashed three character posters and the updated movie synopsis.
The updated synopsis reads as follows:
"Marvel's 'Captain America: Civil War' finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps-one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark's surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability."
There's that bit again about an Avengers incident that is expected to be a global catastrophe. But what exactly happens that is so horrible that the government needs to put a leash on the superheroes?
The disaster may have already been seen in the 'Captain America: Civil War' trailer, where the Avengers are seen fighting in a German airport. There are several explosions, and it even looks like there is a lot of major damage.
There is also a possibility that the "incident" mentioned in the synopsis is referring to the disaster in Sokovia that was seen in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and that 'Civil War' will immediately begin with the introduction of the Sokovia Accords. The Accords allows the government to monitor the activities of any super-powered individual.
'Captain America: Civil War' stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. The film is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.
