Charlie Puth Explains Kiss With Meghan Trainor During The 2015 American Music Awards

Besides the long-listed names of winners during the recent American Music Awards held over the weekend, what left the people talking and made headlines even in the after event was the controversial kissing scene of big-named singers Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor, reports say.

Following the kissing scenario at the AMA, several speculations have immediately circulated in social media, however, the musicians were quick to shut down the rumors and claimed that the friendly kiss was only for a show.

On Instagram, Meghan posted one photo of their onstage PDA with a hashtag included #ImSingle. Charlie on the other hand, also did not miss out giving his brief explanation about it and wrote on twitter, "before it begins.. we are just friends."

"At first I was like, 'Oh no, I don't know if I want to do that." Charlie Puth said of the kiss. "Not because I'm so mortified to kiss somebody on stage, but I was concerned thinking it would just be about that."

He went on saying, "[But] I got the idea of what they were going for in terms of the creative direction, and it just made sense to tie it all together. I realized that that's why I made 'Marvin Gaye'. I made it for people to instantly react and feel like they're falling in love with each other."

While the soulful singer insisted it was just a friendly kiss and was made for the sake of the performance, he didn't deny that the kissing involved "a little bit of tongue".

"I was like all nervous before, like how am I going to make this look real because I'm not attracted to her in that way." He said.

As Charlie clears up rumors about the kiss, he went on to say that though he just clearly doesn't want anybody to get the "wrong idea" about what had happened, he still wouldn't be where he is now without "Meghan's initial push".

"I wouldn't really be anywhere. Meghan really helped me by being featured on my first record." the singer added.
