Reviews of 2015's Biggest Released Games: Game Reviewers Explain the Process Behind It All

Fallout 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Stars Wars: Battlefront, and Rise of the Tomb Raider are just few of the major and famous released games this year. These games gave virtual gamers another favorite to be added on their lists. The four games are packed with fascinating ideas and graphics, making them favorites to many.

But these attributes don't necessarily mean that they don't have flaws. According to The Guardian, some game reviewers found the games quite opposite. Reviewers said that these games have failing points in their original content and basic mechanics and they gave only three start to these games. Critics shared that these things made up the fundamental parts of a game.

Many gamers though think that for a game to be considered an "almost-perfect" or strong video game, it should acquire four or five star rating from game reviewers. And as these games were only given three stars by some reviewers, many think that they are inferior in quality.

Game reviewers from The Guardian defended that "three stars, though, means they're fundamentally good games. Three stars doesn't mean we're haters."

For 30 years, reviewing a video game was an uncomplicated and direct procedure. The publisher of the game would send a new game to be reviewed. The sending out of the game for reviews is several weeks before its released date. The new game is copied on a disc. The disc includes all the final touches of the game. Then, the reviewer will play the game for quite some time then after would write a complete notion of it with a score.

However, the reviewing process now has changed. Publishers don't send out new games on disc. They will gather reviewers to attend special events where reviewers can play the game in a hotel or an office for a few days. Reviewers don't have all the access to the game since it is closely monitored and controlled. For multiplayer mode, they could play it using a local area network. After the game is released, reviews are still closely monitored because the game might crash.

Recently, writers are scrutinized if they wrote negative reviews. Negative reviews are viewed as biased, subjective, or have lack of knowledge about the game. For instance, game reviews from Independent are of both positive and negative. This scrutiny usually resulted from the fans conflict understanding between review of piece of information and review of entertaining criticism.

Reviews should either be positive or negative. Fundamentally, new games deserve to be explored and exposed if there are flaws. This is to give the ultimate experience for virtual gamers. And because in this new age of game reviewing, gamers cannot expect game reviewers to always give out a perfect 5-star score for every game released.
