'Criminal Minds' Star Kirsten Vangsness Is Engaged: 'He's the Perfect Partner'

Kirsten Vangsness is planning to walk down the aisle with actor-writer Keith Hanson. The couple got engaged just a few weeks ago in front of their close family and friends at the Redbury Hollywood hotel. He presented his fiancee with a dazzling emerald ring that included diamonds.

The CBS actress is excited to start planning for the wedding but her soon-to-be husband, she said is more particular when it comes to details compared to her. So it may take awhile before they get it done.

"He's the perfect partner for me, and I feel like we evolve," the actress told People on Monday, November 23. "When you're so into somebody and you get to just mush up next to them - that's the best part of it."

Kirsten wants a plaid dress for her wedding day, and she wants to wear her wedding dress for an awards ceremony, if she ever gets nominated.

This will be Kristen's first marriage, though she was previously engaged to her partner of seven-years, film and television editor Melanie Goldstein, in February 2009 after two and a half years of dating the pair seperated in 2013.

Kirsten explains their break-up to People magazine, saying, "I was so in love with her, but in terms of life growth, what we were both doing separately was just pulling us apart, not sexually, but in all other ways in terms of what your dreams are and what you want to go after and all that.

The 43-year-old admits that after having been in a relationship with a woman for so long she did not foresee herself settling down with a man in the future.

The actress is very excited about her future with Hanson, even if she wasn't expecting to be planning a happily ever after with a man. And yet, she still doesn't consider herself bisexual.

Criminal Minds is an American police procedural television series created by Jeff Davis. It's primarily set at the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) based in Quantico, Virginia. "Criminal Minds" airs every Wednesday on CBS.
