Tarek El Moussa's Life Was Saved After a Viewer Spotted a Cancerous Lump In His Neck

Tarek El Moussa, the host of HGTV’s Flip or Flop, is currently in remission from thyroid cancer, and was discovered by a viewer, Ryan Read, who wrote in after she noticed a lump on the host's neck below his Adam's apple. Tarek has been battling thyroid cancer since 2013. That viewer Ryan Read happened to be a nurse.

According to the Independent, Read sent an email saying,
“This is not a joke. I'm a registered nurse. I've been watching Flip or Flop. I noticed that the host Tarek has a large nodule on his thyroid, and he needs to have it checked out.”

Luckily, Ryan Read was able to catch the illness before it spread farther. According to People El Moussa said, " I fell good, but I don't have the energy I used to have."

El Moussa got a biopsy and found out he had thyroid cancer that had spread to his lymph nodes. It has been a very difficult time for him for the past three years. He told People Magazine that he is cancer-free, but there is still a concern the cancer could return.

El Moussa co-hosts Flip or Flop with his wife Christin. She had been struggling with fertility issues and had a miscarriage right before her husband’s diagnosis.

Eventhough he has been battling lymph node cancer, he and his wife still manage to run their agency, The El Moussa Group, which is located in Orange County, California.

He can now be calm knowing that he is now free from his diagnosis. The host is not yet interested in taking on a new project as he is planning to take a long break from his busy schedule.

El Moussa, his wife, Christina, and their two children are now happy that he is leaving a cancer free. Their son, Brayden, was just born in August.
