On Monday, November 23, Larry Jo Taylor and Jalen Watson have been arrested and charged with murder and other offenses in connection to the killing of pregnant Amanda Blackburn - wife of pastor Davey Blackburn. A third man, Diano Gordon faces related charges.
Amanda, was shot in the head earlier this month during a home invasion. The couple's toddler son was in the house at the time but was untouched.
Larry Jo Taylor and Jalen Watson were booked on murder, burglary and robbery charges. A potential accomplice, Diano Gordon, is being held on an alleged parole violation. Taylor allegedly told his accomplices how he killed Amanda Blackburn during the November 10 crime.
Indianapolis said in a statement that Taylor, Watson and the third suspect Gordon robbed two homes before attempting to break into the Blackburn home. They stole a car at the first home, and were able to get into the Blackburn home through the unlocked front door.
Taylor stated that he allegedly shot Amanda three times, including once in the head and somewhere in Amanda's upper body. The suspects attempted a couple times to withdraw money using Blackburn's credit card.
The 18-year-old suspect Jo Taylor is facing 13 charges, including murder, felony burglary, theft, robbery and auto theft. He was also charged for carrying a handgun without a license. In June, he was charged for public nudity and public indecency after he allegedly showed himself to a woman in a parking lot.
The 21-year-old Jalen Watson, was hit with 10 charges on November 23, including murder, felony burglary, theft, robbery and auto theft. Gordon was being held on parole violations, but authorities are examined other charges against him.
Amanda's husband, Davey, wrote in a statement to People, "Though it does not undo the pain we are feeling, I was extremely relieved to get the news of the arrest made last night of Amanda's killer. The investigators have assured me that a solidly-built case to ensure justice is levied and the process is expedited."
Davey and Amanda Blackburn also have a 15-month-old son, who was in a crib upstairs during the crime. Amanda was 13 weeks pregnant when she was shot. Terry Curry, the Marion County Prosecutor has not decided whether to fil charges relating to the death of the fetus.
