Earlier this year, a Boston based company, claims that they have discovered a way how to de-bitter Cacao thus converting it into a chocolate that has medicinal value.

A new study introduces that there is a new way to enjoy chocolate, which is healthier and calorie-free - in a form of a little pill.

Emma Henderson of Independent UK reports that flavanols found in cocoa extract is rich with nutritional supplement that is good for the heart, however, not as enjoyable to eat like that of the usual chocolate in the market.

Mars, the company behind M&M's chocolate, already has their own capsule containing flavanols and it is called CocoaVia.

They even said in their website that "Cocoa flavanols are the beneficial phytonutrients (also known as plant-based nutrients) found naturally in cocoa, and no other food on Earth can match cocoa's unique blend of flavanols," and added that the experts considers cocoa bean 'as "nature's most surprising 'superfruit'"

In the same report of Independent said that EU food safety officials also said claimed that 200 milligrams of cocoa flavanols is really effective in improving the flow of blood circulation.

And further explains that, people would need to consume two dark chocolate bars in order to get the 200 milligrams of flavanols. But doing so would mean eating about 350 calories and 20 grams of fat, "or four bars of milk chocolate, which would mean around 900 calories and 50 grams of fat," says Mars.

Cocoavia, have already been approved by European health authorities because of the good it does to the heart.

Other chocolate companies like Barry CallebautMondelez International Inc. - Makers of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate), are also planning to release flavanols pills since it is also a profitable risk. While the Swiss brand Lindt refused to join the cocoa supplements bandwagon because the company wants to focus on chocolate indulgence.
