A recent article from the Irish Times suggests that there is no such thing as superfood.
The hype of labeling certain food as such is only a marketing strategy for companies involved in importing and exporting these food items says Mike Gibney, nutrition professor of University College Dublin. "There is no evidence that any of these foods are in any way unusually good," he explains.
But Keri Glassman, R.D., founder of NutritiousLifeMeals.com and author of Slim Calm Sexy Diet beg to differ and suggests that consuming certain fruits, is good for our immune system and metabolism. He gave 7 common fruits that are found in the grocery which he considers as superfruits.

This tiny berry is best when it is in its powder form since it originally hailed from Brazil. "I recommend powdered açaí berry, which can be added into a smoothie," says Glassman. "Not only is this an easy way to get super fruits into your diet, but it also helps mask the tart, sometimes bitter taste." The fruit is packed with antioxidants higher than that of blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries.
