Ryan Seacrest revealed 'American Idol' present and past judges will join forces for the coming final season.
"We will have the former judges back," Seacrest promised E! News. "The plan is to have all of them back. They've all considered it and I think are enthusiastic about coming back and saluting the show."
Seacrest also told Access Hollywood that after speaking to them about the 'return' the past judges agreed to do it. "It's just a matter of figuring what to do with them," he said.
The former judges are the following: Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Ellen DeGeneres and Steven Tyler. Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. are today's current lineup.
There is still no specific role the judges will play in the approaching 15th and final season.
American Idol's original judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, agreed to make an appearance in the Farewell Season.
The combination of Simon, Randy and Paula in the judge seat has been together for eight seasons. Paula left the show in season 9 while Simon left in 2010 to do the "The X-Factor" project.
"Amercian Idol,' has first aired in 2002 and the root of popular music sang by Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood who won the competition in seasons 1 and 4.
As American Idol is preparing for its final season, the Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery said that the coming finale is sad but still a time to celebrate success.
"It's bittersweet," he said to Nash Country Weekly. "It's tough to see something like that go, for me, just being a small part of it. But too, it's such a huge show as far as pop culture in America, and across the world, so it's sad to see something like that go. There's been a lot of shows that have stemmed from American Idol over the years. It will be fun to be there for the finale. I think all of the winners are going to go back," he continues, "so it will be cool in that aspect, but it will be sad."
The Season 15 is the farewell season that premieres on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 on Fox.
