With so many pieces of news about the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Netflix shows (including the recent release of the Krysten Ritter-led "A.K.A Jessica Jones"), there had been rumors that one of the "Defenders" characters would be left out completely from this platform - but comic book fans can rest assured, as the "Iron Fist" Netflix show is totally still happening.
Joe Quesada, the current Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment, has finally put those rumors of the cancellation of the "Iron Fist" Netflix series to rest, after there was a persisting theory of it not happening over too many shows and seasons being added, including the previously unplanned "Daredevil" season 2.
According to Comic Book, after it was thought for a while that the "Iron Fist" Netflix show was being cancelled or even turned into a film instead of a series, the editor-in-chief and artist finally addressed the rumors during the "Jessica Jones" premiere in New York City, and while he was curt in his reply, fans can rest assured in his words.
"Iron Fist is being worked on. That's all that I can say," said Quesada to IGN regarding the possible cancellation of the "Iron Fist" Netflix show.
Months back, similar rumors appeared on the "Iron Fist" Netflix series, and at the time Quesada questioned where this idea had come from, then snidely replying "oh, they were on the Internet? So they must be true!"
For now, there have been no casting decisions announced for the project, but that's also understandable considering how many other MCU shows are in production right now, between the ones at ABC and the ones on Netflix.
Newsarama reports, however, that martial arts actor Scott Adkins was recently hired for an undisclosed role in the Benedict Cumberbatch-led "Doctor Strange" film, with many thinking it might be Daniel "Danny" Rand, as the two characters share a lot of common ground.
Hopefully there will be more "Iron Fist" Netflix news in the coming months!
