6 Best Kept Hair Secrets: Banana, Silk, Bone Broth, and MORE

Amazing hair does not always have to take hours to create. In fact, the secret to amazing hair requires the exact opposite: very little fuss and very little mess. They say gorgeous hair is for the stars, but with the following secrets everyone's a star.

Secret #1: Remember that an everyday wash destroys the natural oils in the scalp. Skip wet shampoo every two to three days. If the hair gets oily quite easily, use dry shampoo to absorb excess oils and give the hair a clean bounce.

Secret #2: Detangle the hair only after it has dried. Avoid brushing the hair during or after washing it. Water causes the hair to break easily.

Secret #3  : Bone broth

Secret #4: Some swear by satin and silk pillowcases and beddings. Whatever material it may be, reducing friction to the hair while sleeping is what matters. This prevents split ends and other damages to the hair.

Secret #5: Lock in moisture into the hair fibres by using protective oil and serum.

Secret #6: Avoid overworking the hair. As much as possible do not subject the hair to harsh heat and chemicals. If this is unavoidable, make sure to allow the hair space and time to 'breathe'. Give the hair regular rest periods from styling or treatment.

A few other hair secrets shared by Jen Atkin, celebrity stylist to Kim Kardashian and her sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner as well as the entire Kardashian family, model/ soon-to-be mom Chrissy Teigen and Justin Timberlake's squeeze/new mom Jessica Biel.

#Tip 1: "After I get out of the shower, I'll mist my hair with a sea salt spray, then push the hair up and place duckbill clips through the length of my hair."

"I'll get ready, do my makeup, and answer emails. If I'm in a hurry, I'll run my blow-dryer over my hair, then take the clips out and scrunch for the perfect beach wave. And if I have time, I'll curl just a couple pieces around my face with my Harry Josh Pro Tools 2-in-1 Ceramic Curling Iron."

#Tip 2: When the Kardashian wonder-worker works out at the gym, she either applies conditioner or coconut oil through her hair before she braids or buns up. The workout heat creates a kind of 'hot oil' effect on the hair. Once workout is done, Jen simply rinses out her hair.

#Tip 3 Before air travel, Jen likes to twist her hair into 'Star Wars' Princess Leia buns and lets the buns out only after landing. This styles the hair into casual waves.
