Carly Simon's 'You're So Vain' Talks About Warren Beatty and Two Others

Carly Simon finally admitted that her You're So Vain song is actually about Warren Beatty- but only a part of it.

In an interview with People Magazine, Carly Simon said, "I have confirmed that the second verse is Warren". However, Simon also said that two other men were also referred in the song. Simon doubts she will ever reveal their identities. "I don't think so, at least until they know it's about them," she said.

The singer also said that Beatty knew about his involvement in the song. "Warren thinks the whole thing is about him!," Simon revealed. Indeed, a line of the songs says: you're "so vain I bet you think this song is about you".

In a 2007 interview with Britain's Daily Express, Beatty was recalled saying, "Let's be honest. The song is about me." He said that there are clues in the song that convinced him so.

An article published in News says other parts of the song talks about how the "vain" man travelled to the Saratoga Race Course in upstate New York to see his horse win and flew a private jet to Nova Scotia "to see the total eclipse of the Sun."

You're So Vain, in general, talks about a self-assured man who has women falling at his feet. It was a hit worldwide back in 1972.

The subject of the song has been the speculation of many. Their hunches include Simon's first husband James Taylor or one of her ex-boyfriends- Warren Beatty, Cat Stevens or Kris Kristofferson.

There were also guesses that the song talks about record company boss David Geffen. However, she denied it was about David Geffen. Simon also said the song isn't about Mick Jagger.

Beatty is known for his films including Reds, Heaven Can Wait and Bugsy. He was also linked to high-profile women but has been married since 1992 to actress Annette Bening.
