Michigan Restaurant Offers Free Meal for the Lonely and Hungry on Thanksgiving

George's Senate Coney Islands has announced that it is offering an eat-all-you-can buffet on Thanksgiving meal for lonely customers. In an interview with ABC News, Restaurateur George Dimopoulos said that doing such an act has a very personal reason for his generosity. "The reason I do this is because I was alone one time," he said. "I remember the good times and bad times."

This restaurant has been doing this act of kindness for the last 10 years. However, this time, the offer has made its way to social media as one of the passersby took a photo of the sign posted in the window and posted it on Reddit. The sign reads: "George's Thanksgiving Day Dinner. If anyone is home alone, come eat with us for free! All day."

"Customers are more than welcome to enjoy a traditional hot turkey plate with mashed potatoes and gravy, dine on Coney Island hot dogs and leave room for dessert," Dimopoulos said.

According to Fox Carolina, Dimopoulos, a native of Greece, left their home at the age of 12 and moved to Athens, where he recalled asking others for food. By 23, he moved to the United States and settled into the restaurant business, offering Greek-inspired breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. By 2002, he established his Northville location.

Dimopoulos is aware that theire are individuals who take advantage of his hospitality. However, he said that this does not bother him at all. "I don't question people when they ask for food," he said. "If they are alone, I give it to them anyway. I can see the way they look. Not many people go out by themselves."

Although his offer for free meals is usually on Thanksgiving, he said that some still come and ask for it on other occasions. "My regular customers like what I do," he said. "It's actually all-year-round if people ask. Eighty people came in for Easter this year for both American and Greek Easter."

The restaurateur is aware that he does not make much money during this day, but he is okay with that too. "Maybe I don't make money, but I feel happy to do that. I do this every year and I will keep doing this as long as I live".
