Justin Timberlake and Timbaland To Make A Country Album? [PHOTOS + VIDEO]

Not everyone is a fan of country music, so it might just be important to note for all those who missed the Country Music Association or CMA Awards a few weeks ago that Justin Timberlake was there - and he did a performance.

You must be wondering why Justin Timberlake was performing at an awards show for country music. Well, he sang a country version of his single off of "The 20/20 Experience" called "Drink You Away."

Not only that, but he performed it with country star Chris Stapleton, too. As it turns out, the duet was one of the biggest and most memorable moments of the night.

It even prompted a lot of people to wonder if Justin Timberlake will be making a foray into the country genre anytime soon. And while most musicians like to keep their work a secret during its early stages, Justin Timberlake's friend and frequent collaborator Timbaland did anything but debunk those rumors.

When Timbaland dropped by TMZ Live on Tuesday, the staff just had to ask if a country album was somewhere in the pipeline for the duo. Timbaland answered (via Stereogum):

"Guess what? [Timberlake and I] are country! [...] He's from Tennesse, I'm from Virginia. It's only right that we try to tap into what we was raised in. [...] 'Drink you Away' was on 'The 20/20 Experience.' It's now starting to be one of the biggest songs. We always wanted to do country music - we thought some of them lyrics are country."

Timbaland continued:

"I gotta tap into country. I'm already posted up in Nashville, I've got a little spot in Nashville, so that's something I wanna do. I am music, so I don't discriminate no genres. I learn it and I study it and I love it."

Not only that, but when Timbaland was asked if tapping into the country genre would prompt a whole album with Justin Timberlake, the music producer said: "Now that you put it out there, why not?"

Only time will tell if we're bound to see and hear a country album from Timbaland and Timberlake. Stay tuned for more updates.
