How to Charge Your Phone By Simply Walking [VIDEO]

Soon you can charge your phone by just walking thanks to recent advancements made by SolePower. According to a report published in Mental Floss, the concept that the new tech company aspires is to take advantage of the energy in every single step one takes and transform it to electricity.

SolePower which won a Popular Science Invention Award last year, created an insole for shoes that convert the kinetic energy of a person's steps into electricity, This is then accumulated in a battery pack and can be used to provide electricity to charge any portable devices such as mobile phones. Whenever the soles of the user's feet hit the ground, the pressure signals the tiny generator in the sole to transmit energy to a battery pack. After extended walking, the user may connect their mobile phone right into their shoes. This is an affordable and easy option to obtain energy in occasions in which electricity or a power outlet isn't available.

According to company founder Matt Stanton, the goal is to help people create renewable energy, and eventually to provide specialized energy-generating shoes to people in developing nations where access to electricity is unreliable. Then there's the added benefit that using steps as a power source is better for the environment than burning fossil fuels.

In a promotional clip launched this week, Staton points out the excellent technology behind the state of the art innovation. Each step stimulates a micro generator, which then provides energy into a battery pack attached to the side of the shoe. It is possible to create a direct line between the numbers of steps taken and the quantity of energy produced. For an instance, the user took 2000 steps (the approximate number of steps in a mile) and this means that the user is basically turning on the tiny micro generator 2000 times. Staton also stated that an hour of walking can provide 30 minutes of talking to the phone.

The estimated price of two insoles and power packs is $199.99.
