Bazinga! "The Big Bang Theory" fans are finally getting that moment they've all been waiting and asking for: Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler are finally going to have - as Sheldon would put it - coitus!
Executive producer Steve Molaro announced the news, saying:
"After over five years of dating, we felt the time was right for Sheldon and Amy to finally consummate their relationship, and we're so excited for the audience to see the journey over the next several episodes."
Here's a backstory of the relationship of Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons), as reported by Vulture:
"For those of you who don't watch 'The Big Bang Theory,' the nerdy couple portrayed by Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik provide an interesting spin on the 'will they or won't they?' story. Most shows either delay the formation of a couple as long as possible (say, Niles and Daphne) or, alternatively, drag out the specifics of a romance (Ross and Rachel straight up had a child and lived together but still didn't get it) for seasons. As the show enters its ninth season, Sheldon and Amy have been in a long-term relationship for years without venturing toward sexual intimacy."
This is definitely a milestone for Amy and Sheldon who have experienced some troubles in their relationship. First, Amy seemed to have formed an attraction to Penny's ex-boyfriend Zack when her relationship with Sheldon was just beginning.
Then, in season nine, fans watched as Amy and Sheldon break-up. But with this new information, it seems as though the breakup was a fluke - Amy and Sheldon are about to patch things up for season ten, and even includes some physical action!
Furthermore, according to TV Guide: the episode was filmed just on Tuesday night. The episode is set to hit the TV screens on Thursday, December 17.
"The Big Bang Theory" airs on CBS on Thursdays at 8/7c.
