Holly Holm Defends Ronda Rousey From 'Brutal' People

After Ronda Rousey's shocking defeat at UFC 193, Holly Holm did not bother to rub more salt into her wounds and even defended her from her "brutal" haters.

The new women's bantamweight champion broke Rousey's undefeated winning streak via knock out in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday. Holm's left kick at Rousey's jaw took her down just within 59 seconds of the second round.

Nicknamed "The Preacher's Daughter", the 34-year-old Albuquerque, N.M. native kept herself grounded post-victory in her interview on Monday.

"I do think that I come from a more humble spot," she told TMZ. "[I never want] to say something and look like a fool."

Prior to the fight, the six-time UFC champion heated up by trashing Holm and refusing to touch gloves.

"Fake ass cheap shotting fake respect fake humility bitch," Rousey wrote on Instagram. "'Preacher's daughter' my ass - I see through your fake sweet act now - you're getting your ass kicked tomorrow, and I'm really going to enjoy the beating I give you #andSTILL."

Rousey's arrogance and loss subjected herself to shame and blasts from celebrities like Lady Gaga, Donald Trump, Laila Ali and others.

"That's what you get for not touching gloves," Gaga captioned a shot of Rousey's punched face on Instagram.

Retired boxer Laila Ali, daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, told TMZ she wasn't at Rousey's corner either. "It's obvious who the better fighter was," she said.

Meanwhile, Holm sympathizes with Rousey for her horrible loss and still humiliation.

"I think people can be pretty brutal," said The Preacher's Daughter. "When you're in the spot she's in, there are people that are just going to jump ship and I don't ever wish for that. I have a lot of respect for her."

Rousey posted a statement after the fight thanking people for their "love and support".

"I'm going to take a little bit of time, but I'll be back."
