Most Android phones and mobile devices are now being used as cameras to capture special occasions and even random moments that most people want to keep and cherish forever. However, limited memory storage can be an issue. This is why the web giant Google has come up with a support, announcing an update to Google Photos on Tuesday, Nov.17.
As millions of people take lots of photos and capture videos, they want some options that can allow them to free up some space in the device's intergrated storage. Now, to quickly let you save storage capacity, Google Photos was designed to allow the users easily delete local copies of photos and videos.
This update can also provide them the peace of mind of having their precious and quality photos and videos backed up online.
Such updates to the free cloud-based storage service, Google Photos, also aim to identify which photos have been uploaded to their Google Photos account with just a few taps. Under the Settings menu, it brings the "Free Up Space" option that determines and collects all images on user's android phones or tablets.
Those that have been backed up by the Google Photos app could be saved in an instant while making it sure that they don't accidentally delete necessary photos forever.
"If a user joined Google Photos and selected the 'original quality' setting for their photos, but changed their mind, they could have future media backed up in high quality,"Google Project Engineer Elstone explained in a Google+ post. "However, for media already backed up in 'Original quality' before then, users were in an awkward state: they had no way to downgrade that media to 'High quality,'" he, however, warned the app users.
Initially, it is said that the Google Photos update is now rolling out to Android devices, and will be coming to iOS "soon".
