‘Fast & Furious’ Spinoff Movies Confirmed, Will They Bring Back Dead Characters? Here's Everything We Know [RELEASE DATE, CAST, PLOT & RUMORS]

A "Fast & Furious" spinoff movie series is now in development, according to star and driving force, Vin Diesel.

It seems like the "Fast & Furious" franchise just keeps getting bigger and better. According to The Hollywood Reporter, at least three more movies have been set for the franchise, including their eighth film, "Furious 8."

The expansion into new and different directions come as Marvel Studios' films started the trend, where they tied their solo movies together to form "The Avengers."

"Fast & Furious" has always had a huge ensemble of characters, and while the studios have previously featured the backstories of some of the characters, there is still more room for new stories and where audiences would see what the characters do on their own.
According to a Variety report, the franchise is going to use "Star Wars" strategy of producing movies that delve deeper into the past and present stories of its popular characters

"We've written out story lines for various characters. We've been playing with it for a long time. It's a very rich property and we're committed to treating it with a lot of class," Vin Diesel said in an interview.

The concept isn't entirely new for the franchise though. Their third film, "The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift," is somehow the same as its story is outside the main chronology of the first two. However, some characters in "Tokyo Drift" were eventually linked to the sequels.

As of writing, Diesel and Universal executives still haven't provided details as to which characters will get their stories expanded.

According to Cinema Blend, with the current plot of the franchise, the "Fast & Furious" spinoff would have an array of directions to take. But it may be expected that they will be featuring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Luke Hobbs. The website added that this could give the studios a chance to bring back dead characters, such as Gisele (Gal Gadot) and Han (Sung Kang).

For now, all fans can do is wait and see what the "Fast & Furious" spinoff would have in store. Meanwhile, "Furious 8" is still in the works. Its release date has been scheduled on April 14, 2017.
