Do you like "Game of Thrones" and beer? They're you're in luck. Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, N.Y. has released a new line of beers based on the HBO series, "Game of Thrones."
Ommegang's beer line is called "Fire and Blood," which is the motto of House Targaryen in the "Game of Thrones" series. The beer is inspired by Daenerys Targaryen and her three dragons, Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion, according to a news release. The beer features three different labels, each sporting a different one of the three dragons. Although the beer labels are randomly distributed among the cases, each case will contain all three bottles.
Fire and Blood has a deep, dark red hue, according to Brewery Ommegang. It has aromas of ripe fruit, raisins, malt and slight spice. These are followed by a slightly floral and spicy hop character. The brewery recommends that Fire and Blood be paired with pastrami, jerk chicken, pulled pork or Mexican cuisine, such as burritos.
The HBO hit series is set to begin its fourth season on Sunday, April 6. Fans will be able to follow the adventures of Daenerys Targaryen, Arya Stark, Tyrion Lannister and other characters as they attempt to navigate the political waters of the fantasy world of Westeros.
The beer is actually being released just in time for the Season premiere. Ommegang announced that the beer will be available on March 31, and can be found in 750ml bottles and 1/6 barrel kegs, according to a news release. The brewery also has other "Game of Thrones" beers, including the Iron Throne and the Take the Black Stout.
