Nick at Nite's "See Dad Run" will no longer be running.
According to Deadline, after three seasons, the network's first original scripted comedy series starring former "Happy Days" star, Scott Baio, has been cancelled. The show aired alongside other TV classics that make up Nickelodeon's late night block.
Five episodes remain to air of the 20-episode collection that make up the second season. Season three will air later this year with 13 episodes after production wraps this May. Deadline reported that an hour-long series finale has been ordered in addition to the 13 episodes.
In the show, Baio plays David Hobbs, a successful actor who is forced to become a stay-at-home dad so his soap-opera-star wife, played by Alanna Ubach, can return to the spotlight. In the comedy, Baio's charcter realizes being a stay-at-home parent is harder than it looks. "See Dad Run" was created by Tina Albanese and Patrick.
The show debuted in 2012. It has featured cameos from Baio's "Happy Days" director, Garry Marshall, co-star Ted McGinley and actress Raven-Symone.
After the cancellation of "Wendell and Vinnie," and "See Dad Run," the network is left with only one original comedy series, "Instant Mom." The show, which stars "Sister, Sister," star Tia Mowry-Hardrict, was renewed for a 20-episode second season.
After the announcement of the cancellation, Baio took to Twitter to thank his fans and update them on news of what will occupy his time once filming ends.
