It started with lattes for $10, then burgers for $250, now $25 for a corn dog. Do you think that's a reasonable price?
According to ESPN, the Arizona Diamondbacks have unveiled a $25 corn dog that will be served at their stadium during this MLB season. The massive D-bat Dog is eighteen inches of crispy corn dog that is stuffed with cheese, jalapenos, and bacon and served with a side of fries.
"This is really about providing our fans with new options each year, and in the case of some of our larger items, it's really about sharing with the family," said Derrick Hall, team president and CEO. "We don't have any expectations for the D-Bat, but we'll look forward to seeing if it becomes popular with our fans. Every night for us is a successful night because we offer the most affordable food prices in all of baseball."
When asked via Twitter how many calories that the corn dog was, the Diamondbacks responded by saying: "We're still counting. Stand by ..."
For those not willing to spend that much money on a corn dog, the concession stand is also selling the Sonoran Dog, a hot dog wrapped in mesquite-smoked bacon with pico, beans and mayonnaise for $7. They also offer the Venom Dog, a 12-inch habanero sausage with guacamole, pico de gallo, black beans and sour cream for $10.
The Diamondbacks are not the first team with a $25 dog. The Texas Rangers began offering a $26, 2-foot "Boomstick" in 2012. The hot dog smothered in chili, nacho cheese, jalapenos and onions retails for $26. The Rangers reportedly sold nearly 20,000 of them in the first season.
Would you shell out $25 bucks for this extra-long dog?
