WARNING: "CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR" SPOILERS AHEAD
A new "Captain America: Civil War" news is in, which means another set of spoilers for the much-anticipated film.
This week's "Captain America: Civil War" news is about a character who only appeared in the last "Avengers" film, "Age of Ultron" - Vision, according to The Inquisitr.
Comic Book reported that in a recent "Larry King Now" interview, Paul Bettany might have revealed possible "Captain America: Civil War" spoilers.
Bettany said it's hard for him to answer questions about the film for fear of revealing too much. One would think the actor would not be saying anything substantial, but when he explained that Vision was able to lift Mjolnir, Thor's hammer, in "Age of Ultron" because he was a "good person," this could mean that Vision will not be turning into a villain in "Captain America: Civil War."
Vision definitely stunned audiences with his superpowers upon defeating Ultron. While the "Captain America: Civil War" theory of Vision showing evil tendencies may be plausible because he has Loki's powers, Bettany's answer could prove this theory wrong.
Another "Captain America: Civil War" spoiler was apparent with the leaked promo art, reportedly showing how teams are to be divided in "Civil War." The promo art showed Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) team as well as those in Tony Stark/Iron Man's (Robert Downey, Jr.) team. As for Vision's (Paul Bettany) team, he revealed the character's stance on that in an interview with Collider, saying that the real world and the story in "Civil War" have parallels.
"It's going to be a lot of fun. I think it's really interesting, the way that a huge, epic superhero extravaganza is discussing a really interesting question, which is about people unilaterally going into other people's countries and their intervention there," Bettany said.
Paul also explained how Vision, who is a character based on logic, had difficulty processing loyalty and love, and how this would affect his alliance with the two opposing teams. This already hints at some interesting "Captain America: Civil War" spoiler
"What I love about my character is that there are so many places for him to go. I think he's very interested in what it means to be human and what love is. The only way one can guarantee one's loyalty is love. Loyalty is beyond logic, really. Logic doesn't really provide for loyalty. If your logic changes suddenly and things not make sense, you can alter your allegiance, but love stops you from being able to do that," Bettany added.
According to Screen Rant, this could mean that Vision might be siding with Stark's team first because of "logic." However, when he eventually learns about "being human" and with his relationship with Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), he could be changing teams and side with Captain America because of love.
During his Larry King interview, Paul said Marvel fans have "rabid" tendencies, especially since the movie's producers are Marvel fans themselves, and extremely protective of the material. With this statement, rest assured fans would have no worries about boring or unnecessary additions to the "Captain America" Civil War" plot.
As for working with the Russo brothers, Bettany said in his Collider interview that working with the two directors has been beneficial and that they have captured the comics so well.
"They both have a really different approach. I loved working with all three of them. The really great thing with a cast that big is that you have two directors. You can always get one of them to have a chat with about what's coming up next, and that's great," said Bettany.
"I'm really excited to see what they do with what we shot. ... I think fans feel that they're in safe hands, and the reason they feel like they're in safe hands is because the films are being made by fans and they remember what it is about these stories that connected with them, in the first place. That's why they have heart," he added.
According to Screen Rant, Bettany's comments clearly aligns with Evans' explanation of the "Captain America: Civil War plot - that "there's no clear bad guy here."
While Bettany's interview certainly didn't provide clear details on the film, it can be said that even the film's newer characters will be facing challenges when it comes to their beliefs and alliances.
