'Spectre' Prevails in France Despite Cinema Closures Following Paris Attacks

'Spectre' still reigned in France despite the recent terrorist attacks in Paris last week, which led to the closures of the cinema theaters in the capital city, according to Hollywood Reporter.

While the shocking terrorist attack has become a topic of outrage in social media, 'Spectre' seems to also be making its own noise, following reports that the record-breaking film has reportedly grossed a total of $14.6 million during its opening day in France on Wednesday, November 11, which included a $2 million previews over the last weekend.

After the Paris attacks on Friday, November 13, various cinema theaters were immediately closed the following day. While most of the cinemas were shut down, some from other locations in France began opening on Sunday.

'Spectre' which happens to be the 24th installment of the James Bond film franchise under Sony, MGM and Eon Productions, has dominated the movie industry just this weekend, as it reached $152.6 million in sales.

The movie has racked up a total of $543.8 million sales worldwide, adding that 'Spectre' is projected to reach $1 billion by the end of its official tally.

"I think we've got out next $1 billion movie," Phil Contrino, Vice president and chief analyst of BoxOffice.com.

The box-office hit movie is said to be Daniel Craig's last appearance as James Bond, following his four previous appearances.

What's next in line following 'Spectre' is the Bollywood romance film 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo', which has reportedly made over $31 million in sales and has already secured its place as one of the top-grossing movies in India for the year 2015.

'The Priests' places no. 3 making up to $9.3 million in sales, the 'Hotel Transylvania 2' finished at spot no. 4 with $8.9 million and Chinese film 'A Journey Through Time With Anthony' came in fifth with only $6 million.
