People who have diabetes should be more careful when it comes to their diet. And those who don't have this disease must also be cautious because not being able to do so could eventually lead to diabetes. It is a common misconception that only people who have diabetes run in the family could have it. As a matter of fact, anyone could be a victim of it and it all boils down to the right food and diet that a person has.
World Diabetes Day is on November 14 and with that, we would like to remind people who are stricken by it to not lose hope and they can still eat whatever they want. It is all about the proper way and amount of eating them. However, there are other foods that are best not touched by diabetics.
According to an article published Home BT, Libby Dowling who is the clinical advisor at Diabetes UK confirmed that having a balanced diet is key to keep the body healthy, especially for diabetics. She said, "If you have diabetes - whatever the type - no food is out of bounds, but you should aim for a healthy, balanced diet, just as everyone should. This is a diet which is low in sugar, salt and saturated fats and includes plenty of fruit and vegetables.
"It's fine to have a treat now and again, but maintaining a healthy diet most of the time can help you to manage your diabetes, and is good for your general health too."
Take note that frozen grapes, sweet potatoes, almonds, fish and soybeans are best to be consumed by people who have diabetes. Make sure that the pantry is filled with these.
As for the worst foods, stay away from white bread, chips, fruit juices and butter.
