Starbucks Free Drink: This Is How You Can Get Free Coffee During Christmas Red Cups Controversy

Starbucks has had a pretty tough week public relations-wise after launching the 2015 version of their traditional holiday Red Cups to heavy controversy, as many people (including GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump) have been saying its lack of wintery drawings are "anti-Christian" - is that why the chain is offering Starbucks free drinks now?

Although the chain has steered away from promoting their new image for the holidays due to the controversy, that doesn't mean they're about to shy away from offering new promotions, and the latest one includes a way to get a Starbucks free drink, for a limited time only.

According to Time Magazine, the chain is launching a new deal between the hours of 2 and 5pm (from Friday to Sunday this weekend) where any customer who orders one of their holiday beverages then gets a second one for free, so it might not be too bad an idea to drop by with a date on this schedule.

Of course, the Starbucks free drinks strategy is the easiest way to promote their new holiday drinks as they're surrounded by controversy from a number of Christian groups, who have complained about the chain turning their backs to them.

As Refinery29 reports, while regular patrons can get the Starbucks free drinks until Sunday, those affiliated to their Starbucks Rewards service can enjoy the deal for one extra day on Monday afternoon as well - just in case they missed it the first three days!

It's hardly an unlucky Friday the 13th on the major chain, as the deal starts today, Starbucks announced last Thursday on Twitter, as they told patrons in the U.S. that they could drop by for an extra Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brûlée Latte, Chestnut Praline Latte, Eggnog Latte and Gingerbread Latte.

As E! Online reports, there's also a fairly interesting amount of pastries in the chain to celebrate the holidays so you can accompany your Starbucks free drink!
