It's completely obvious that he is one busy man.
Ian Somerhalder has really been into loads of work recently, following the airing of the 'The Vampire Diaries' season 7 earlier in October. However, disregarding his hectic working schedules, it seems like the nature lover will always have some time when it comes to saving the earth.
Reports say that the 34-year old actor, who has engaged himself in an environmental-focused organization and is also currently working with the online organic retailer 'Thrive Market', has been reportedly exerting some efforts in the non-profit world on its race in carbon footprint reduction.
During his recent interview with Variety, Somerhalder has openly talked about the show following Nina Dobrev's exit while carrying in some encouragement to the youth about the environment conservation.
"I personally think everyone thought it was going to be a huge departure after Elena was gone. And I was one of those people," Somerhalder replied when being asked as to how he feels about the new TVD season without Dobrev's Elena Gilbert. "I thought it was going to be a huge departure for the typical formula of our show."
He continued, "By virtue of the fact that it wasn't a huge leap for mankind, as far as changing it up, there were some differences that sort of mixed up the formula."
Somerhalder also did not miss out giving a deeper explanation about the foundation, adding that it's not really something that people think it is.
"Sometimes, when I try to explain the Foundation to people, they say 'Wow, that's really broad.' But it's not, because it's really compartmentalized," he explained. "When you look at the earth rather than as an environment, yeah, it's around snow globe floating in space, but it's a symbiosis between the creatures living on it and the land, sea and sun."
He added, "What are we as human beings? We're a symbiosis between the food that we eat and the air that we breathe."
Going back to TVD, the new season is currently on its 6th episode with Somerhalder's Damon Salvator always taking a huge part in every chapter. 'The Vampire Season 7 airs every Fridays at 8 PM on The CW.
