Look Forward to Bluetooth 2016, It's Better Than Ever

Bluetooth - in the past, it was deemed an amazing part of our phones that lets you transfer files like photos and even music files to another device. Nowadays, it's not unusual to hear the word bluetooth. Most, if not all, smartphones, have this technology readily available at one touch. But do you know what it can do for you?

Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard that is widely used for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices, and building personal area networks. It was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS-232 data cables and is used to connect several devices, overcoming problems of synchronization.

In the coming 2016, Bluetooth will never be the same again, being better than ever.

This week, The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) - the authorities that is in in charge of setting standards for the wireless technology - said that their advancement will lead to a better speed, more sophisticated networks and a wider range.

Bluetooth is known to be connected with smartphones, speakers and headsets. But recently, the group has decided to omit the explosion of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies on its list of focus though it can be used to connect devices from smart home thermostats to fitness trackers.

As interviewed by the CBS News team, Toby Nixon, the chairman of the Bluetooth SIG board of directors released a statement claiming that there is a significant demand from their members and the industry at large to enhance Bluetooth with the new capabilities which has been scheduled to be announced today.

Furthermore, Nixon said that as far as the technical updates planned for Bluetooth technology in 2016 is concerned, it will really help to make these expectations a reality and accelerate growth in IoT.

SIG has also publicly revealed that Bluetooth Smart's range is an energy-saving technology which can increase by four times and can make connections between networked devices stronger - both inside and outside the home. Creating a kind of secondary network which can cover an entire building or home, the "mesh networking" will also enable the Bluetooth ready devices to connect to one another.
