Aaron Carter apparently misses his ex.
People magazine reported that the 26-year-old musician retweeted a photo of Hilary Duff, along with the caption: "Hilary Duff is flawless."
After retweeting a photo of the 26-year-old actress, the "I Want Candy" singer then wrote, "Don't be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever.. Like me..."
He added, "I'll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her. I don't care what ANY of you think. Like seriously when did I become such a symp to these stupid people who have no idea who I am and/or what I've been through. If you're that interested watch my interviews or google me."
Carter concluded by stating, "That tweet just gave me an anxiety attack."
Fans quickly replied, some excited and some skeptical. When a fan asked Carter if he was referring to Duff, he answered, "sure am."
Carter and Duff dated as teens in the early 2000s, before they split after rumors of Carter cheating on Duff with Disney rival Lindsay Lohan. Carter said in an old interview that he and Duff began dating on his thirteenth birthday.
"We kiss and we hug and we hold hands and go to the movies," he said. "I was actually dating her for like, a year and a half. And then I just got a little bored so I went, and I started getting to know Lindsay [Lohan]. Dating Lindsay."
The former "Lizzie McGuire" star told People magazine in 2007 that the two were adults about the situation. Duff later went on to marry retired NHL player, Mike Comrie; but the couple later announced their separation after three years of marriage. The couple has one son together, 2-year-old Luca.
Duff has not responded to any of Carter's "hopeless romantic" statements on social media.
