'Thor: Ragnarok' Could Be Getting A Major Female Villain, But You Won't Believe Which A-List Actress Is Up For The Part!

Marvel could be introducing more powerful female characters in the Phase Three movies, so why not include a new bad girl in 'Thor: Ragnarok?' Better yet, make sure this female villain will be played by an A-List actress!

It was previously reported that 'Thor: Ragnarok' could introduce Valkyrie, the Marvel character who has claimed to be the female Thor. If Brunnhilde will finally be making her big-screen debut in the sequel, there is a possibility she will be going up against a femme fatale.

According to Lainey Gossip, Marvel could be planning to add a female villain to the cast of 'Thor: Ragnarok,' which already includes Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/The Hulk.

"If Valkyrie is really coming to the big screen, that will make two high-profile female roles being cast in 'Ragnarok,' because I have heard that Marvel is also planning on bringing their first major female villain into their cinematic universe. I don't know who the character is for sure, but there are a couple likely candidates from Asgard: Amora the Enchantress, a sorceress; or Hela, Queen of the Dead," the site wrote.

Interestingly, both Enchantress (not to be confused with the DC Enchantress who will appear in 'Suicide Squad') and Hela are both featured in 'Thor vs Hulk,' the animated film written by Craig Kyle and Chris Yost. The two writers have recently signed on to work on the screenplay for 'Thor: Ragnarok,' so it wouldn't be a surprise to see either or both villains in the movie.

Perhaps the most unexpected rumor about the new 'Thor: Ragnarok' villain is the choice of actress who is being tapped to portray her.

"Marvel will pursue a big name actress for Mystery Villainess-like Cate Blanchett big," Lainey Gossip wrote.

Could Cate Blanchett play either Enchantress or Hela? Find out when 'Thor: Ragnarok' hits theaters on July 28, 2017.
