[UPDATED] Amazon's Restaurant Delivery Accommodates More Cities Across the Country

Too tired to leave the house but crave for delicious food delivered to their door. Are you organizing lunch for the team in the office yet you're too busy? That's easy as a pie.

Amazon has restaurant delivery service that bring satisfaction and convenience to its valued customers.

Amazon had its experiment of delivering food from local restaurants in Seattle with the help of Amazon's Prime Now App launched last August.

On Tuesday, Amazon announced that a number of cities across the U.S., including Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, L.A. & Orange Country, New York, Miami, Minneapolis & St. Paul, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Francisco Bay Area, and Seattle & Eastside are now covered with the free, two-hour delivery in major metros and the one-hour delivery for $7.99. Amazon considers to expand the service in other cities where Prime Now is available, re/code reports.

Amazon Restaurants General Manager Gus Lopez told re/code in an interview on Monday: "I'd characterize this as beyond the concept being experimental to something we're actively growing."

Amazon Prime users pay $99 annually for services like music and movie streaming, unlimited photo storage in the cloud, a Netflix-live service with free TV shows and movies and more. The new restaurant delivery service is ultimately about adding value to Prime Membership Programs. Amazon's goals are to make the members keep their contracts and encourage nonmembers to join Prime.

Amazon's Prime Now restaurant delivery is free for now. Lopez said that Amazon's restaurant delivery service is clear on pricing; no mark ups on menus and no hidden charges as well. Amazon gets its share on sales from the participating restaurants but Lopez did not disclose how much.

In L.A., service is available in Santa Monica, Culver City, Venice and west L.A and customers can order from Umami Burger, Baby Blues BBQ, Wokcano, Hurry Curry of Tokyo, Feast from the East, John O'Groats, and others.
