Snowpiercer is coming to TV

The Snowpiercer is making a stop on the small screen. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that a TV adaptation of the cult 2013 Korean dystopian film is being developed by Marty Adelstein's Tomorrow Studios.

The movie, which was directed by Korean auteur Bong Joon Ho, featured an ensemble cast lead by Chris Evans, Tilda Swanton, and Jaime Bell.

Based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette, the story is set in a post-apocalyptic future that has seen the Earth reduced to a frozen wasteland due to a string of failed climate engineering experiments.

The remnants of humanity survive by boarding the titular 'Snowpiercer' - a massive train whose tracks span the entire globe. Once aboard, a strict class system is formed with the wealthy and privileged occupying the front carriages while the poor and sick are hoarded in the rear of the train. The film's plot centers on the effort of a small group of back dwellers who try to venture into the front of the train and try to seize control from their oppressors.

According to THR, Bong will return to the project, but this time as an Executive Producer. Adelstein and his producing partner Becky Clements will also be joining him.

"We are very excited to be working with Josh on this incredible story," Said Adelstein in a statement. "As such a prolific and innovative writer he is the ideal person to create a massive new world in this adaptation. This is an expansive, high-concept project and we are thrilled to be a part of reimagining it for television."

Writer Josh Friedman was also ecstatic saying, "Marty and Becky are the perfect partners to help me bring this world to TV. I'm a huge fan of director Bong's films, especially Snowpiercer."
