If having cancer doesn't keep this eight-year-old down, nothing will--especially when it comes to having his own cooking show. Arthur Gonzaga's is a young chef from Minas Gerais, Brazil who has taken the internet by storm with his many culinary adventures.
The Huffington Post reported that in August 2013, Arthur and his family learned that he was diagnosed with leukemia and because of treatment and his recovery process, the young boy spent the latter half of that year in and out of the hospital. Last Christmas, he was forced to spend Christmas Eve in the emergency room of São Paulo's A.C. Camargo Cancer Center.
As an effort to keep himself entertained during the many visits and unfortunate circumstances, the young boy and his parents, father, Renato Gonzaga, and stepmother, Priscila Inserra, bounced around the idea of a cooking show.
In due time, Arthur began posing short cooking segments on Youtube, where he both cooked and shared his delicious recipes. His series is perfectly titled, "Arthur Gourmand."
With the chance to celebrate the New Year at home with his family, Arthur has exploded with ideas. Inserra told The Huffington Post, that the family is currently borrowing the kitchen of a close family friend, who is also acting out the role of art producer.
Arthur's father has made cameos in the series. His role included acting as his son's sous chef and passing his son whatever ingredients he needs. The videos are all in Portuguese, but the young chef walks his viewers through every step, from marinade and preparation to actually cooking.
"After just a few seconds of watching, you'll be instantly captured by the young chef's dynamic personality and jovial character," the Huffington Post said about Arthur and his show.
With only three videos unloaded so far, that young chef has announced plans to release a new episode shortly. He will also be expanding his fan base on social media by taking suggestions on what people would like him to whip up next.
The Huffington Post reported that Arthur's health is in good condition and that the young chef is responding well to treatment.
"The secret of life is to let it take you, to have fun and to know how to turn lemons into lemonade," Inserra wrote in the family's latest Facebook post.
