Caffeinated Peanut Butter Is Out And Senator Chuck Schumer Wants Full Investigation On It, As STEEM Contains More Sugar Than Red Bull

A while after the first announcement that STEEM's caffeinated peanut butter was hitting the market, the product is now officially on shelves in Connecticut and Massachusetts, but one politician in particular isn't all too convinced with how healthy - or safe - this product might be.

New York Senate Chuck Schumer, who has been recently pushing for stricter gun control laws along with comedian cousin Amy Schumer, has made his official stand on the new caffeinated peanut butter, in tune with his past standings against heavily caffeinated products, this time saying that peanut butter, being something so heavily associated with children, shouldn't contain such strong amounts of sugar and caffeine.

According to Time Magazine, Schumer took on the caffeine peanut butter in a recent statement, after the company has boasted that just two tablespoons of their product contain almost as much caffeine as two full cups of coffee - and to raise even more concerns, a single serving of this product actually contains five times as much caffeine as an entire can of Coke.

"Too much caffeine can cause a person to be jittery, everyone's experienced that. But it can raise their blood pressure, cause heart palpitations and worse," Schumer told the press when speaking about the new caffeinated peanut butter, Ars Technica reports. "To think that peanut butter, one of the snacks most closely associated with children, might have to be stored in the medicine cabinet as opposed to the kitchen cabinet should serve as a jolt to the FDA."

Another danger of the caffeinated peanut butter is its risk for pets, as most of them cannot digest caffeine and eating it could lead to consequences - a concerning fact as many dog owners will occasionally treat their pets with regular peanut butter; however, SEEM's website does warn against this.

STEEM has said, on the other hand, that the caffeinated peanut butter is safe for consumption and has already passed every possible test from the FDA.
