Disney Princesses: Mature Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Others Depicted by Brazilian Artist

Brazilian artist Isaque Arêas imagined how each of the popular Disney princesses would look today based on when they first appeared in the movies and the age of their character in the film.

The first seeds of the idea of ageing the Disney princesses came to Isaque in 2013.  He created his framework with the viewpoint that if the Disney princesses were movie actors, they would certainly have changed considerably by now.

He developed this concept after two years of enhancing his artistic technique. While Isaque is not the only artist to project Disney characters onto older versions of themselves, his work attempts more realism by using calculated projections of the Disney princessess ages.

According to Isaque, "The first objective was to show people that even if you are getting old, you can be a princess outside and inside."

Snow White, according to Isaque's calculation and design, is the oldest of the Disney princesses. She first appeared onscreen as a 14-year old in 1937. By 2015 Snow White is an incredible-looking 92-year old.  Mulan, by contrast, is the youngest at 33 based on her appearance as a 16-year old in 1998.

The metamorphosis of the other Disney princesses were just as interesting to see. Ariel is no longer the Little Mermaid at 42 with her locks re-styled unrecognisably.  Pocahontas and Jasmine, who would be of the same age, retained their long hair styles but look much more mature than when they first came onscreen. Similarly, the adult Mulan kept her signature hair style.

Favourite Disney princesses Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast's Belle and Sleeping Beauty's Aurora were given a more extensive transformation as classic matriarchs with wrinkles and grayed hair. Aurora favoured short curls and is just as arresting at 72. Cinderella, who is the closest to Snow White's age group, is an elegant 84-year old.

The artist was able to gauge the success of his project when he saw people's comments on his Disney princesses artworks displayed on Facebook:

"Belle is my age now and she looks like me."

"Snow looks like my granny."
