How Comfort Food Plan Started In the Airline Industry

When people get on planes, they usually don't expect a lot from in-flight food. They are also not interested in eating healthy food options. Aoifie Ryan said that people who get on these flights want comfort food like crisps, sweets and snacks. According to an article in Independent, when people taka flight, the healthy food option takes a back seat and they just want comfort food.

She said that her work title is just a fancy term for being a buyer of many things that are nice. The company, Retail in Motion specializes in airlines that are sold on board the plane, the things that you see on trolleys. They supply Ryanair, Aer Lingus, the French airline and more.

Most Airlines have the same kind of menu, cola, water hot drinks and salty or sweet drinks. When people get on the plane they usually get either a glass of wine, a cup of tea or coffee. Fresh food will always be different because of the different nationalities. Usually they would want sandwiches with different fillings. She said that in order to cater to different tastes and nationalities, they are working with sandwich suppliers across Europe.

If it's an Italian airline company, then the sandwich would also be different. For example, they wouldn't want chicken and stuffing in their sandwiches. They would prefer to eat sliced mushrooms with Ham or mozzarella with Parma ham. Fresh food are easier to work with a sandwich supplier who can provide a wide range or variety of all bases, they can also make made to order sandwiches and deliver them on a daily or two or three day basis just because they are perishable.
