Special Bee From Himalayas Produces Psychedelic Honey

Who would have thought that nature can actually provide an all organic psychedelic trip? Though this used to be a myth, it's already been proven that there is indeed such thing as a "psychedelic honey". As per Elite Readers, these honey is produced by the Himalayan Cliff be which has a scientific name of Apis Dorsata Laboriosa. These bees can only be found in the caves located in the depth of the Himalayas, and they are known as the "largest known bee in the world."

These bees are also known for producing a nature tipping, psychedelic honey. These Himalayan cliff bees would usually extract and produce its honey form "rhododendron flowers". These flowers are highly toxic to humans; as a result the honey that they would produce would contain hallucinogenic properties since it is mixed with the flowers toxins.

Toxic as it may seem, it is being called "mad honey" by the locals. Though the honey may seem hallucinogenic, it is said to have numerous health benefits. As per the website however, it may cause nausea, muscle weakness, cardiac issues, and vomiting if consumed in large amounts. Despite its side effects, the honey is still being harvested and sought after by the locals.

As per the Boing Boing website, there are actually "honey hunters" which would harvest the honey for the whole community.

"One month a year, giant Himalayan bees, the biggest bees in the world, come to collect nectar from a poisonous flower, giving the honey they make certain medicinal, aphrodisiac, and hallucinogenic properties."

The honey may be precious but it does come with a price as it is not easy to harvest it. It is very dangerous to harvest the honey because the bees would usually make their colonies in the face of a cliff. The harvesters would normally use hand-made ropes and ladders to climb by the cliff to harvest the honey.
