Back in August, it was reported that Busta Rhymes, also known as Trevor Smith, was arrested for second-degree assault charges after an altercation with an employee ensued at a New York Gym.
Reports claimed that the 43-year-old rapper threw a "17-ounce strawberry protein shake" at the employee after the latter prohibited Busta Rhymes to record a video of his exercise routine within the gym - called Steel Gym, located in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City.
Although reports first claimed that the drink in question was a Lean Body protein drink, First We Feast says that the strawberry flavored protein shake thrown at the 33-year-old gym employee's head was actually Muscle Milk.
It was on Friday morning when Busta Rhymes finally plead guilty to harassment (and throwing a protein shake at the employee's head and thereby causing bruises) in Manhattan Criminal Court.
The New York Times claims that Busta Rhymes will need to attend anger management counseling sessions as part of the reduced charges agreement.
The publication describes the occurrence outside of the Manhattan Criminal Court house that same morning:
"Mr. Smith, dressed in a sharp black suit and wearing diamond earrings, was all smiles as he left court with his lawyer, as a bodyguard ran interference, blocking reporters. 'You that aggressive with your man?' he said to one female reporter who tried to ask him a question. Then he stopped to hug a court officer who said he was a big fan. Mr. Smith was also recognized by another fan - a man in handcuffs who was being escorted in by the police. 'That's Busta! That's Busta!' the man said, jumping up and down.
"'The criminal charges, especially charging him with a felony, was a bunch of bull,' Mr. Smith's lawyer, Scott Leemon, said. 'Busta and I are glad the district attorney's office agreed to drop all the criminal charges.'"
After an in-depth investigation into the incident, assistant district attorney Danielle Coffey told the court that the charges against Busta Rhymes had been reduced.
Coffey also told the judge that Busta Rhymes had already completed three days of counseling for anger management.
