Justin Bieber Speaks About His Relationship with His Mother

Justin Bieber admitted that his personal and legal turmoil took a huge blow on his relationship with his mother, Pattie Mallette.

Bieber said in an interview that the relationship had been "pretty non- existing." He also added, "I was distant because I was ashamed, I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was."

He confided that he and his mother Mallette had not been speaking for two years but he claimed that he is trying to mend the broken relationship and regain her trust. Mallete lives in Hawaii, making it harder for Bieber to reconnect with her.

"She's an amazing woman and I love her," adds Bieber.

Bieber also said that childhood stardom is the "toughest thing in the world." According to Bieber, "It might seem awesome from the outside, but I'm struggling. Certain things broke my trust with people. Situations happen that taint your mind. I started going through the motions. I felt like people were judging me all the time. I came out alive. I came out swinging. But I was close to letting fame completely destroy me."

In an interview last 2003, Mallette shared, "When your kids hit a certain age, your parenting style changes and it is hard letting go. His life was my life and now I've had to let him go a little bit and let him be independent. It is hard to not be able to control everything that your adult child does."

Bieber is now preparing to launch his comeback album entitled, 'Purpose'.

Big Sean, who appears on 'Purpose' said, "He's building credibility as a true artist right before our eyes."

According to Def Jam CEO Steve Bartels, "There are so few truly global artists, and Bieber's still getting bigger. He's touching a group of people that he never had before. The music is the forefront of that."
