Last year, the biggest star on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" released her own game, an app created for iOS and Android called "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood," where casual gamers could increase their fame and reputation, turning into a madly lucrative enterprise - but Kim Kardashian's game has now prompted a lawsuit.
Just Game Interactive Entertainment filed a lawsuit last week against Glu Mobile, the company that developed the Kim Kardashian game, as well as Kris Jenner, Kardashian's "momager," stating that they'd come to them with the idea for a game based on the reality star's likeness that was scraped, until the real version came out and it was more than casually similar to their own project.
According to The Associated Press, in their lawsuit, reps for Just Game say that the company made a very detailed pitch to both the developers and Jenner about a Kim Kardashian game, only to never hear from them again until the app came out and they discovered that it had several elements of their original idea.
IGN reports that the Kim Kardashian game lawsuit is seeking more than $10 million in damages, a sum that might seem extraordinary but still pales in comparison to the revenue the game's made since its launch on June 2014, having made about $200 million last year alone through its free but depending on in-app purchases model.
"Glu views this complaint as completely frivolous. We were never contacted by, or even heard of, the plaintiff before they filed this complaint," a rep for the makers of the Kim Kardashian game told GameSpot in a recent statement, in the first comment regarding the recent lawsuit. "Glu independently created Kim Kardashian: Hollywood and we will defend ourselves vigorously in this matter."
Jenner, on her part, hasn't made any comments regarding the lawsuit involving Kim Kardashian's game.
