One of the most popular foods in America is the hotdog sandwich, but recently there has been some concern on what should it be called. People on social media have been debating about the fact on whether a hotdog should be called a sandwich or not.
In an article published by The Inquisitr, it is looking like this issue has heated up even more this week. A lot of people would agree that it could be called a sandwich since it is meat that is wrapped inside a bread. Technically, one can indeed call that a sandwich. But some would argue that the bread used for a hotdog sandwich shouldn't be considered as bread.
This whole issue sparked from the world of sports when Andrew Hirsh, who is a writer for the Atlanta Falcons posted on his Twitter saying that Matt Ryan does not think that a hotdog is a sandwich. That tweet alone has been so controversial that a lot of people in thd Twitterverse and around the world are participating on this debate.
Sports celebrities were even reported by Fox to have been talking about this and apparently, not all of them agree as well to call a hotdog a sandwich.
This may all sound funny for those who are encountering this topic for the first time, but believe it or not, this issue has been going on since last year. In fact, The Atlantic has an article about it back in 2014 stating that according to the New York State's Tax Bulletin, the definition for a hotdog is actually a sandwich and it taxed according to it.
If anyone ever finds themselves in a heated debate regarding hotdog sandwiches and what are they really called, they could just refer to that Tax Bulletin by the state of New York.
