For years, since Startrek was introduced on TV, the idea of teleportation has been a dream by almost everyone. And now, it is about to come to life thanks to Facebook. Although, the company doesn't promise the exact same teleportation that the famous 90s show was popular for, but at least it's getting there.
The Inquisitr reported that Facebook is now working on the development of a teleporter. But okay, the company is actually just using the play on words here since it is leading to such progress in the tech world. They plan to release it on 2025 and call it a "Teleporter."
Now, what exactly is this Teleporter project? Based on Tech Times, it is a unique experience that would give virtual reality. They are still really working on the other details of this technology but basically, it would allow anyone who have access to it to be anywhere on earth.
The company's CTO Mike Schroepfer made a statement regarding this said innovation during a Web Summit in Dublin. He said, "Facebook wants to build a device that allows you to be anywhere you want, with anyone, regardless of geographic boundaries."
The aim of this device or experience is to trick its user's mind to be anywhere they want in the world, without really having to be physically there. This would be made possible by the company's partnership with two other tech giants named Oculus Rift and Surreal Vision. Business Inside said that the whole teleportation thing would happen once they have improved and changed some of the three elements involving virtual reality.
It is no Startrek technology, but it is so far the closest that the human race could get in experiencing teleportation. It will all be in 3D, which means the whole experience would feel just as real.
