Fans of the popular board game Dungeons & Dragons have been waiting for a long time waiting to see if a movie version will ever be released. The good news is that the answer is yes.
Based on Latino's Post report, the project for it to become a highly anticipated movie has been pending due to some previous legal issues surrounding it. But that has already been solved. Hence, the movie is about to happen.
IGN on the other hand went into details about what really happened and apparently, three big entertainment companies were behind all this and it is what caused the delay of the project. These three companies are Hasbro, Warner Bros and Sweatpea Entertainment. Eventually, they all agreed on having rights with the screening of the movie for Dungeons & Dragons.
The whole issue began two years ago when Hasbro decided to go on and film for a new version of Dungeons & Dragons under Universal Picture. Meanwhile, on that same year, Warner Bros and Sweatpea were also working on their own version. When Hasbro found out about it, they started filing charges against Sweatpea and the three of them eventually became entangled in the same lawsuit fighting for who truly deserves to own the rights of the said movie franchise.
It was quite a mess for the three companies and this is the main reason why the project was never materialized on time. The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Universal Pictures said that the rights of the franchise couldn't be given to Sweatpea because the company agreed to have it reverted. But this is all over now because they have finally made amends on who's going to own it and in the end, they were all at peace with their decisions.
